Spring Refresh Workshop
Hi friends!
I have just returned from an incredible, life-changing yoga retreat in Nosara, Costa Rica. I’ll be writing about my experience in next week’s dispatch so stay tuned for the details! Over the next few days, I’m settling back into ‘real life’ by getting back into routine, and working on some exciting upcoming projects and offerings! One of which I would like to share more about below.
As most of you know, I moved out of the city almost a year ago in favour of a slower-paced, nature-based lifestyle that also allowed me to transition into launching my business. What you may not know, is that I moved back to the small town that I was born and raised in for the greater part of my childhood! It has been a lovely soft landing pad to try out rural living in a familiar place, and an added bonus is that many of my childhood friends have found their way back to town as well. Coincidentally, two of these friends are also entrepreneurs in the health and wellness space, and we have been meeting regularly to reconnect, share our small business ownership learnings and bond over our passion for self-development. Naturally, these conversations have evolved into a collaborative project and our first workshop will be taking place in two weeks!
Our Spring Refresh workshop will serve as a mental, physical, and spiritual tune-up after winter, and an introduction to what we consider to be three key pillars of health and well-being: movement, nutrition, and mindfulness. Each of us specializes in one (or more!) of these pillars and will be leading hour-long sessions to dive deeper into their principles.
Hillary Griffen, certified personal trainer, will speak to the vital importance of regular movement to promote quality health and longevity. She will be sharing exercise recommendations to incorporate into your daily routine and lead a group workout which will be modifiable for all levels. Afterwards, I will be providing some light nourishment and will lead a discussion around healthy eating, the essential role nutrition plays in our overall well-being, and how to support our bodies seasonally, inclusive of actionable tips to integrate into your lifestyle. Following that, Lauren Power, certified reflexology therapist, will explore the importance of mindfulness, and looking at our health from an interconnected perspective. She will then lead a guided meditation to promote body-mind awareness and demonstrate visualization techniques to reduce stress and clear energetic blockages in the body.
We hope that this offering leaves you feeling refreshed, and energized about incorporating some new tools into your health routine! Guests will leave with informative hand-outs inclusive of recommendations, recipes, a grocery list, and resources provided by each practitioner.
The workshop takes place Saturday, April 27th, from 1 - 4:30 pm, at Scugog Memorial Public Library in Port Perry, Ontario. Port Perry is located just an hour outside of Toronto, so if you are in the GTA, it could be a nice little day trip. We hope to see you at this first of many iterations of our work together, and look forward to welcoming you to our little town!
