Last November, shortly after I launched my business, I opened a notification on my phone that alerted me to a new follower: Lisa Jane White. I clicked on her profile and started browsing. She was a woman in her late 50s sharing videos of herself practicing yoga, meditating, chanting, and sharing insights, usually in a bikini on a secluded tropical beach, or a cottage country dock - I instantly followed back, thinking: wow, this woman is following me?! As she started to pop up on my feed, I felt more and more drawn towards her wisdom and how she made yoga, the spiritual, and the esoteric authentic to her, inviting us into a practice that was uniquely her own. I saw that she was leading a retreat in February and I decided to inquire further about pricing and details, as I had been on a loose hunt for a retreat for a while. When I turned 30, I intended to go on a retreat to usher in a new decade, but I quickly became overwhelmed with all of the options available and didn’t quite understand how to filter my search. I realize now that the best way to vet a retreat is through the teacher - find someone you jive with and want to learn from and the rest will take care of itself.
