The back to school energy is palpable this year and the past two weeks I’ve felt more out in the world than ever. At the end of the summer I went into a bit of a hiding post 30th birthday and then left the city for the final two weeks of August. It’s been nice to feel the urge to connect again and my September calendar is stacked with catch ups, dinners, sauna dates, work commitments, creative collaborations and appointments. Long live virgo season!
Despite my enthusiasm for the shift in late summer energy to full on fall, it can feel overwhelming to navigate and the threat of falling off the horse that is routine looms in the back of my head. Cooking my own meals is *the* pillar of my well being and one of the first ways I learned how to center myself. Nothing brings me back down to earth and into my body like a simple meal of brown rice, salmon, avocado and some massaged kale or quick pickled cabbage. I am so committed to this practice that I honestly structure my social life around having more time than not to support my body in this way, but sometimes the luxury of a home cooked meal is abandoned in favor of the glamorous hustle and bustle that is September. What I’ve come to rely on during this time is my daily routine, and as long as I practice *most* of my non-negotiables below, I feel equipped to take on the day and wherever the night may take me.
